Maisy Summer

Maisy is an Illustrator and Animator based in Manchester. She has an interest in print making, collage, and paper cuts! Her work usually derives from narratives and observations within the city, which she then collates and interprets in her own visual language. The work she will be showcasing is a publication based on Night and Day. The project emerged from her own curiosity and observations within the Northern Quarter, which over time became more focused on Night and Day. The publication intends to create a sense of place, as well as document the personal experiences, and memories of the owner and promoter of Night and Day, Jan Oldenburg and Jay Taylor. By collating and interpreting their words, as well as mixing with her own experiences of Night and Day. Maisy created a publication which captures a little snippet of time from the venue. The publication is predominately illustrated, and made from a mix of paper cuts, collage, and oil pastels, accompanied by parts of the interviews. Maisy will be exhibiting the artwork from the publication, and alongside be selling copies of it, as well as risograph prints, and laser cut characters!
