Independent Venue week proudly presents #BestOfBritish, a series of shows every week across the month of September, championing the very best of British artists, venues and local scenes.
Headlining Night and Day is the Manchster legend, Phoebe Green. Raised beside the grey-blue waters of Lytham St Annes' windswept coastline, Phoebe Green creates music that feels as raw, expansive, and emotionally exposed as the landscape itself. Over the last decade, her unflinching honesty has invited listeners deep into the entanglements of her mind - each release unfolding like a page torn from a secret diary, intimate enough to feel as though we're peeking over her shoulder as she writes it. A quintessential Scorpio, her piercing intuition and fierce sense of loyalty make her songwriting all the more devastating, capturing the strange instinct to long for moments before they've even slipped away.
Manchester-based dream-pop group, Umarells are joining the stage, creating glistening soundscapes, fizzing with raw emotion and nostalgia. Combining elements of grunge, shoe-gaze and indie-pop, Umarells reflect on grief and relationships, vulnerably creating a sound that lingers and dissolves you into the room.
Opening up the night is hyper-pop duo samxemma. The electronic duo provides an emotional and sincere take on hyper pop/electronic music, drawing comparison to artists such as Porter Robinson, Charli XCX and Yung Lean but also features hard hitting glitchy drops that you would hear from the likes of Flume and Skrillex. The pair are not ones to miss, with their distinct visual aesthetic and high energy live shows they will throw you into the night and linger on your ears.
