Over the last ten years Bristol-born artist, songwriter and producer Lauren Aquilina has become a master of reinvention. Forging a career as a globally renowned songwriter working with Rina Sawayama, Little Mix, IVE, Ava Max and Demi Lovato, Lauren’s own artist project is now going through its own renaissance.
With vocal fans including Rina Sawayama, MNEK, Holly Humberstone and Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall, Aquilina released her first project since her major label debut in the autumn of 2020. The critically acclaimed Ghost World EP followed comeback single ‘Psycho’ which culminated in sold-out shows across the UK, as well as a support slot with Lauren’s favourite band MUNA in London and a US tour with fellow sad song connoisseur Sasha Alex Sloan.
As Lauren continues to work on new music. Aside from latest single “Hanging By Your Halo”, the collection is a departure from the pensive ballads and piano-led songs which started her musical journey a decade ago, the still untitled project leans into her love of the darker, grungier pop of the early ‘00s with references to ‘80s synth-pop too.
Over 100 million streams later, a lot has changed for Lauren who now splits her time between London, Stockholm and LA. To celebrate getting through the highs and lows of the last decade, 2022 saw the singer-songwriter put on a special headline show in London with tickets selling out in under 15 minutes.
